Ingredients
Serves 4
60ml double cream (plus extra for serving)
200ml full fat milk
4 hot cross buns
40g dark chocolate
2 free-range eggs
100g caster sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Cut the hot cross buns in half and stuff them with chunks of dark chocolate. Squish them into a baking dish.
In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon until warmed through. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together, then while still whisking, pour in the warm milk mixture and whisk until well combined.
Pour this all over the hot cross buns and leave to soak for about 10 minutes whilst you preheat your oven to 180°C. Cook for about 20 minutes until golden brown on top. Serve straight away with double cream or custard... and please, do try to share!
